Libraries
The libraries are the gateway to the Film Archive collections.
Located in Wellington and Auckland both libraries contain extensive selections of
film, books, magazines and videos. These are available for on-site viewing and
research.
The videos are selected from the Film Archive collections and include commercials,
short films, features, home movies, newsreels and more. Video titles not on public
shelves can be requested from the Film Archive vaults. For Auckland library users,
interloan requests may incur a small fee.
A specialist book and periodical collection is also available. It covers all aspects
of local and international film and television production as well as New Zealand
social history. In Wellington, visitors can access a growing selection of personality
and film readers compiled from material held in the Documentation Collection.
Information Services staff can assist with special projects. A
research charge may apply for advanced or commercial research.
The libraries are non-lending: books and videos cannot be removed from the site.
