Film Archive Auckland

Discover New Zealand’s moving images at the Film Archive in Auckland.

Centrally located at 300 Karangahape Road, the office has an exhibition space, video viewing facilities and reference library. Staff are on hand to assist with deposit and research enquiries.

Exhibitions
Monitors, video and digital projections, stills and props, seminars and workshops, put the spotlight onto New Zealand’s moving images.

Whether the subject is historical or contemporary, the exhibition programme aims to entertain, inform, educate, debate and discuss all aspects of moving image culture.

Admission to the exhibition space is free.

Screenings
A busy screening programme of New Zealand features and short films, documentaries and special presentations are held in venues around Auckland city.

Admission to screenings organised by the Auckland Office is generally free, though a modest admission charge may apply from time to time.

ViewFinder
From December 2004 to June 2006, the Auckland Office curated ViewFinder, a continuous, 24/7, moving image installation on the outside of the Auckland Central Library, Lorne Street, Auckland City.

Plans to redevelop ViewFinder at a new site are currently underway, in the meantime exerpts from previous ViewFinder works can be viewed online.
