Welcome
With a head office located in the heart of Wellington, the Film Archive is the home of hundreds of thousands of moving images of New Zealand’s past.
We house collections of documentaries, home movies, Newsreels, television commercials, feature and short films, music videos, television programmes as well as a documentation collection of posters, photographs, props and costumes.
With weekly screenings from Wednesday to Saturday nights in our cinema, a cafe, a gallery space and a searchable online catalogue and library viewing area, it's a great place to spend a few hours or even a couple of weeks.
We also have a range of sites at partner organisations around the country, a gallery and office in Auckland, a Traveling Film Show, plus a load of online resources right here.
